Have any on here tried tuning their K40x for less damping on the panning base?

Expect it's just be a case of using a thinner grease of correct grade?

That's one of the best features on it.. :-)

Only thing i tried was to remove the clamps on The K40 and the K30, both successfully without any need of heating or without destroying the bolts.

Been given one as a spare. Use mine with sidekick style gimbal.

Thought I might try to get it panning a bit quicker for tracking birds better as it's no big deal if it ends up a bag of bits.

Seriously? A forum with a male bias and no one else ever tunes things to fit a purpose or for no purpose at all?

Are you eunuchs? ;-)a

I hack everything!

Just haven't wanted to hack a panning base yet. I like the damped feel of the K30 and my Markins M20. It only feels "tight" when you turn by hand IMHO. Once a lens is mounted and you get all that leverage, it's smooth and easy.

I was turning the lawn mower into a time machine. A mishap later, and boom! eunuch ever since. :(

edit: I just went back in time to prevent myself from creating the time machine and losing my junk. Which created a paradox. Dammit. There goes my afternoon...

I see no need to change my 40 in any way.
