Any 5DS R owners tried this continuous auto focus in Movie mode?

OK I dont really do video ... Not very good at it, lack of knowledge and its not really my thing! However I have been asked to shoot some short clips of a dance routine for a job on Friday.
I Assumed, incorrectly?, as this is not a dual pixel sensor, its the usual a la 5DIII ... keep pressing the AF button to refocus.

However I noticed this in the manual page 313, Movie Servo AF. Apparrently it will using contrast detection to constantly autofocus.
Apparently you can activate face detection or Flexizone single.

Anyone used this? Was it any good?

Sounds like a bit of a bonus, as I thought only dual pixel sensors could constantly autofocus!

Interested to know as I am pushed for time, and can't sit down and do a big trial and error evaluation.

It works decently on cameras like the SL1 and other bodies without dual pixel. The issue is that if you don't have an STM lens, you might be picking up lens AF noise in the video. It is prudent to get an off camera mic like Rode or equivalents.

Thanks Teamspeed, I do have a 40mm pancake which Inthink is an STM lens.
I had a small break somtried it.
Actually it works pretty well, instead of pressing the AF On button to focus, as on my 5D3 as well, where it seems to overshoot and then recorrect on both these cameras, mthere seems to be a natural flow from on af position to the other. Maybe a little bit slower but a lot nicer to watch, more natural. Actually its a real bonus.

Hmmm not sure how it would handle this proposed dance routine, might even be better than my crap first attemps. But will definitely work for Dressage, kids birthday parties tracking the New kitten innthe garden. ( as long as its not in manic steroid mode lol).

A real bonus feature :) it always irked me that the 5D3 didnt have some kind of continuous af, especially formthe money, whereas the basic Sony SLT 7 had it. So I am Very pleased.
I wonder how much better the dual pixel af is over this, faster and ot more accurate?
But for my extremely limited use is a godsend and will do me very nicely .... Thank you Canon!

The dual pixel AF for video on the 70D is great. As long as it can focus, it doesn't hunt when moving from one subject to another. The 80D is supposed to be even better.

I have the EOS M which has the kind of continuous AF that I think your camera has, but the hunting makes it unusable for me.

Interestingly this one doesnt hunt even in low lit situation with no video lights, played around for an hour didnt hunt once
