1DX hands down BUT if you can't stretch that far then my personal recommendation (yes I owned and used the same set up)

1DIV with the 70-200 2.8 mkII AND the mkIII 1.4 extender.

I used this combo (still use the lens set up on my 1DX for majority of race weekends) for race weekends and it never let me down.

That in my honest 'user' opinion is your best bet. if nothing else go for the 70-200 2.8 mkII with the mkIII 1.4 extender, it will go with just about any body, if you can get the 5DmkIII that is a really good compromise - I also use that for racing, really fast AF

Hope that helps even a little

.DAVID.

R3 box that goes click and some tubes with glass in them on the front.

Oh believe me the 1D Mark IV was a beast with Motorsports, Just lacked in other areas. Thanks for the advice. The 1DX and a 300mm f2.8 Would be my ideal setup but realistically speaking ill probably get a 70-200 to start with. 6k for a clean 1DX and 300mm f2.8L IS is a lot of money. :-) Not a big fan of TC's in general as I had a bad experience with the 70D and 300mm f4L IS a few years back. I'd have to see raw files to judge the quality difference to even consider it.
