I was driving home the other day when I passed by this statue. It's name is the Oblation, a symbol of the university I went to.

yeah, the airplaine is a bit distracting. I don't know how to take it off properly using photoshop though.

Take it easy - will do.

Welcome to the forums.

Complements on the first shot. A LOT of new people (about 99 and 44/100 %) and the majority of those who have been around a while would have placed the statue in the exact boring center of the frame. Well done. The only change I would make is to get rid of the hanging watch-band, or whatever that is on the wrist.

(NOTE: If anyone gets ahead of me with a post saying it should have been centered, I APOLOGIZE! I did not intended anything personal!)

On the second shot, the white balance needs to be moved away from the cyan. Also, watchband has to go. What photo editing program are you using? And again, congrats on having the eye to stay away from boxlike framing.

As far as the jet goes, I like it. Nice modern antagonistic to classical Hellenistic sculpture.

Well done.

Rad.

PS - Now all you need to do is stop taking photos of someone else's art and become the artist yourself. You have the intuition for it.

Hi Radtech,

Thanks for the comments :) yeah, the second one does tend to dwell more on the cyan side. Might be because i forgot to take off the polarizer i was using :)

As for the photo editing software, I'm trying to get my feet wet with photoshop. although, i'm not yet that comfortable with it.

Thanks Again!!

Ozzie, the first shot is outstanding, an excellent silhouette shot. The second is dramatic, that worm's eyeview works here, and the Oblation is nicely superimposed upon the Administration Building. The plane is a very lucky catch, as it adds whimsy nto the scene, as both seemingly have their arms open in supplication. If you decide to edit it out, it can easily be done in Photoshop using the Clone tool.

As for the "wristband", I would leave it there. It would make a nice conversation piece, as people familiar with this statue know that it is a place where some hang protest signs against the oppression, government or what have you.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another UP alumnus here.

Hey BottomBracket

The wrist thing there WAS actually from a protest the day before. I did try to take it off but the security guarding it just wouldn't let me.

But yeah, the stuff you did say is a good reason to keep it there :)
