Remote and seldom visited wilderness area in BC

This sunset photo was taken on our first day of a 7 day trip to this remote wilderness area. We had a two day weather delay before we could helicopter into the range so the anticipation was high when we were finally able to fly in. The beauty of the area did not disappoint. The meadows on this slope were bursting with wildflowers and you couldn't walk more than a few feet without finding yourself knee-deep in wildflowers. This little scene is probably my favorite of the trip; a mountain stream, gorgeous wildflowers, snow covered peaks lit by the setting sun with a glacier that is feeding one of the largest lakes in the range. You can't ask for much more than that!

Great photo man! Did you get any other sweet photos from the trip? Must have been pretty exciting to fly into that area by helicopter.

No.....he went all that way, hired a helicopter, then hiked 15 miles to take one picture.

In truth I wish I had used f/22; the fewer images I need to stack the better. I find it very difficult to get a seamless blend when you have elements that are overlapping (ie, flowers and grass), and both of them are moving between shots. If in one shot the flower is very sharp but the grass directly behind it is a little soft, and in the next shot the flower is slightly soft and the grass is very sharp, but they have moved compared to the first shot, it is very difficult to get that to look right. This is especially true for elements in the very near foreground when your lens is inches from them. There just isn't a lot of room to "fudge" like there is for elements in the midground. I did have to clean up the stack and it would have been easier if the flowers and grass that were overlapping each other were sharp in one shot.
