So my wife no longer wants the 80D

Her path has been:

S100
EOS M
SL1
70D
80D (her lenses are in my sig)

She's tired of big camera and wants to go back to the EOS-M but the M3 since it has flash and wifi built in it's perfect for her. HOWEVER she loves her 2.8 constant lens. I told her that is not an option with the "M". I'm trying to convince her XT-2 since it's a camera I want but she can use and I can grab it to play with. Then she can have little lenses and the kit lens is pretty good for her but problem is NO flash... she insists on having on board flash even though I tell her but oh well.

Whats another option? She just takes photos of the kids and doesn't like the quality of the Iphone. She doesn't really want fuji... or nikon... or anything but a canon since she is familiar with the Canon. M3 would be perfect for her needs but no lens options. Now what...

Does your wife require a zoom? An M series camera + the 22mm sounds like it would check off most of the boxes. I was going to suggest a Fuji X100T or X100S (with T and W conversion lenses) since it's about the same field of view as the M + 22, but imagine my frustration when I read she doesn't want Fuji ... [gasp].

yeah I may just hand her a M3 with a 22 and tell her to hush. She likes a zoom. I may just buy the first M back w/ a 22 there is one in the classifieds and just let her play with it a bit.

I thought you can get an adapter for the EOS M's to use the EFS lenses.

Any reason not to entertain the G-series, i.e. G1X?

G15/16. Even smaller sensor, but fast lens!

you know I've used the G cameras before in the past... had the G7x, used the G11... Just never been fond of the G series.

I forgot to mention that I purchased the M3 and EV1 viewfinder deal from B&H. She won't need the viewfinder so I'll sell it and I'm in the process of buying an EOS M 1st gen with 22mm so she can have the 22mm and will sell the 1st gen EOS M to offset the cost.

Total price will be EOS M3 and 22mm for about $420...

BUT... if she likes it then I sell the 80D/12-50/24/70-300 so I'll come out way ahead

Sound like the M3 with the 22 is the way to go!

So, how much do you want for the 80D?

I too wanted something small to carry around. So, I got an M. It was horribly slow. I just can't find anything reasonably priced that can top my SL1 for compact carry camera. I like the speed of it, price, and ability to use my lenses. Wish the M's were faster.

Def tempting. I shoot weddings w the Sigma 18-35 1.8 & now the 50-100 1.8 and use a 70D & 80D. would be nice to just have 2 80Ds!

You said she takes photos of the kids. I haven't tried the M3, but the M had horrible AF and wasn't very good with moving kids. Would it be worth trying to convince her to go back to the SL1? I know it's not the greatest in low light, but it's AF is still good and she can use w/e lenses she wants. Even if the photos are occasionally, you've at least captured the moment rather than not at all.

It almost sounds like she wants something the size of her iphone (the M3) with good AF...does that exist? There may have to be a compromise somewhere :-/

M3 is suppose to be better... not SLR fast obviously but we both want to try it out see how it works.

let us know what you think (if/when you get it - come one, we all know you're going to get it ). I loved the M besides the slow AF. If the M3 is faster, it may be worth it. I would just keep the 22 glued to it.
