Went out last night to capture the Meteor shower. Wasn't seeing anything so I took a long exposure of the lake just to fill the time. This is my first time doing long exposure I suspect this is just star trails but not sure. 2 1/2 min exposure or so.

that's just the movement of the stars...unless there's one that goes against the rotation of all the others

i'm certainly no expert on shooting meteors...i've tried a few times. but you're going to want to open up your lens more...use a higher ISO as well...the rule to avoid star trails is 500or 600 divided by your focal length= the longest amount of time in seconds you can keep open your shutter

what i've found works best is to take shots consecutively an to aim for a short shutter speed that you can get away with and still expose the stars...this way if one streaks by it will end up being brighter in the image...of course nobody knows where the streak will come, so it's a bit of luck required to get something good

should be more out tonight to give it another go
