I got a call from Team Australia asking if I was available to shoot their opening ceremony in Florida. Obviously, I cleared up my evening for this awesome opportunity. :)

Natural light. Anything I could've done better?

It looks good to me. Might have tried to stagger the rows a bit by using bleachers instead of individual seats?

Definitely hard to do. The last 3-4 rows the faces are hard to see. I would have had those people move forward and make slightly wider rows. More people, less empty seats, closer crop.

Maybe to have taken the shot above the group?

I am only offering what maybe you could have done differently...unsure if that would have resulted in anything better as what you have is great. Your lighting is great and focus is spot on. Perhaps the difference could have been that you shot this group of people seated from above rather than where you were so you could have achieved a closer/equal focal distance between the front row and last row. This would mean that your group would have been looking up and that may have made it a bit awkward.

Nice work! This is one that will be printed large and handed down through the generations.

For the web perhaps a bit more sharpening and/or stepping up the midtone contrast would be good.

OT, but out of curiosity, what were they doing in Florida?

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

They were training in the US for as long as possible to avoid all the health hazards in Rio.

They flew out two days after the shoot.
