Yep, left my bounce card in Dublin and realized the morning of the wedding (not good). That's why I was bouncing from walls behind me at the home.
if you haven't done a comparison, even the white pull up card can make a significant difference in facial shadows as in your first and last pic. Or you can use a rubber band and a larger piece of white paper. Not that the shadows are terrible, you did a good job with getting the flash bounced from behind you.
my preferred on camera flash set up for the situation you have above is to bounce pretty much exactly as you have and use something like I have described. The only time I use a larger bounce card is if the ceilings are too high and too dark, and I cannot get any space between myself and the subject.
