We're going on a sightseeing River History Cruise tomorrow, grain elevators, bridges, canals and such.. it's going to be a bright and sunny day tomorrow. Which lens would you take? And would you use a filter? I only want to take one lens..

CANON EF 50mm 1:1.4 (DHG Super Circular PL.D Filter)
CANON EFS 10-22mm (DHG Super Circular PL.D Filter or Tiffen UV Protector)
CANON EFS 18-135mm IS

I'm using a Canon EOS 70D.. I have no hoods as of yet.. so any advice on lens choice or settings is welcome, obviously I'm still learning :).

Thanks!

Well personally I would probably go for the 18-135, because it offers a lot of flexibility. From a boat I don't think the UWA is going to be useful enough on its own. Saying that I would probably go with the 18-135 and just slip the 18-22 in a pocket, or the wife/GF's handbag, just in case there was something for which it might be useful. I would not bother with any filters, especially not a "protective" one.

If you own one, and since it would add so little weight I think I would take along a CPL and use it for reducing reflections from the water.

The CPL question is a good one, as he did not list the CPL for the 18-135, I kind of thought he didn't have one to fit it. If the OP does have a CPL for the 18-135 then yes I would take it along. I'm really in two minds about CPL for UWA's, yes they can help with reflections, but usually you will have a such a wide FoV that you get intensity variations in the sky across the frame. 18mm on APS-C is usually plenty wide enough for this to happen, well at least in my experience, so I would really only think about using a CLP at the very longest end of the 10-22. So context really plays a part in that CPL on UWA question IMO.

You're going to be on a boat right? You'll really want the zoom then, I've been in a similar situation and a 70-200 was my most used lens by far. I also pulled out the 24-70 for a few wide shots, but it was the exception.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

18-135. And best spot is at the bow. In my experience, with wide end and at this spot, you'll be able to have the boat and the scenery. With tele you'll be just yanking some fragments on the shore without visual reference where you are. 10-22 might be also good if river, channels are small.
