5Dsr Surprise.

Having owned a 5Dsr for three weeks I am pleasantly surprised at how low the image noise is even at 12800 iso
It makes me wonder why Canon restricted the speed level, unless of course the digic six has some kind of melt down after that.

I wonder if it's just a firmware thing?

Don't think that I've seen a pic from the 5DSR at or above 12800. Please share.

If you have seen a 7d2 at 12800, it would be very close to that. The 6d is better yet, which two of you show you have.

The 5DsR is full of wonderful surprises. I've enjoyed it so far and have found it to be a wonderful camera!

As photo site (relating to a pixel) sizes drop, that ISO performance will not be as good. So the 5DSR didn't see an ISO increase, it saw a decrease' in that sense, due to smaller pixel sites on the same surface area (higher pixel density).

It can have decent ISO performance, it's still a modern full frame sensor.

Apparent noise has a lot of different things influencing it.

I've been using 2nd 5DsR and never pass iso 3200 yet ! I want to see pics that you talking about if you don't mind.

Can I just copy and paste pictures into threads or do I need to have a web hosting account?

click on "post to thread", then "upload images", select your image (less than 1200 pixels on the long edge) and robert is your mothers brother

^^^^Good except that resizing isn't necessary. The only restriction is that the file be less than 10MB. The photo editor will automatically do the resizing for you.

I think when it was mirrorless it could, but if it could shoot 10 FPS it would get bigger as the 1D X to store all it's components to achieve that rate.

I think the slight image softness is in part due to condensation on my front element as the food was cooking at the time.
I was expecting 12.8k to look like a billboard poster close up.

I doubt I'll use it often but I think I could get a reasonable print at the high setting.
