It makes me wonder why Canon restricted the speed level, unless of course the digic six has some kind of melt down after that.
I wonder if it's just a firmware thing?
As photo site (relating to a pixel) sizes drop, that ISO performance will not be as good. So the 5DSR didn't see an ISO increase, it saw a decrease' in that sense, due to smaller pixel sites on the same surface area (higher pixel density).
It can have decent ISO performance, it's still a modern full frame sensor.
Apparent noise has a lot of different things influencing it.
