that 24-105 can be a real winner for canon with that price tag. It's about as heavy as the 24-70ii though.

Only $1099 for the new 24-105mm? That means the current version's price is gonna go way down. Looks like I'm finally getting an L lens

You can do better for less. The 24-105 STM is now on the refurb page.

I want a lens with weather-sealing for my 7D. And I love constant aperture lenses. I love my Sigma 17-50mm, but it's not weather-sealed, and I rarely use the 17mm end of it. I'm going to get a FF body somewhat soon and I don't currently have any normal zoom lenses that would work with it.

The Sigma 24-105A ruined any desire I had or would have for any 24-105L. Not to mention I was pretty disgusted with the Canon version I tried before the S. And the Sigma is still less expensive. Just saying.

Yeah the Sigma version looks great. I really wish it had weather sealing. I want just one lens with weather sealing and I'll be happy. It seems the only affordable options for weather sealing are the 24-105mm f4 and the 17-40mm f4; neither of which being optically great.
