Canon Rumors has reported (with a CR2 rating) that there will in fact be an announcement for the successor to the M3 in 2016, (external link)

Sadly there doesn't seem to be anything on the Full Frame mirrorless yet..

Here are some specs for the M5 as stated by Canon Rumors. Looks like it will finally get that built in EVF.

I'm calling it now. DPAF, built in EVF, 80D specs and tilt screen.

It says most of that in the article from Canon Rumors :p haha

I'm worried to see what it has to offer, I'd be tempted to sell my M3 to get it.

Some sketches or possible images filtered through PS of what the M5 may look like.

I had an original M, which i had enjoyed overall, but always longed for some sort of viewfinder. I eventually sold it to pick up an X-Pro1 which i have REALLY enjoyed, but i never bothered to buy fuji glass, and just shoot adapted FD lenses with it.

This may be enough to bring me back to the EOS M fold. i still love the idea of a mirorrless camera that can work natively with my EF & EF-S lenses and the rumor looks like it answers all my beefs with the EOS M design up until now.

Cameras: EOS 7d mark II, Fuji X100F, Leica M8, Leica M2-R,

Not sure the M (or any of its successors) can be claimed to work natively with EF or EFs lenses - it still needs an adaptor for those

I have the adapter for my M3 and the AF works great, I don't notice any issues at all with it.

I wish this was a full frame sensor and not crop, I keep hoping that when it's announced it will be FF!

Well I guess native in the sense that it is a factory adapter that doesn't cost as much or more than the camera (looking at you metabones) which allows 100% full control of the lenses.

I’m quite interested in this. I’ve gone back several times the last year or two about selling my 60D and getting something smaller. What has held me back is that I like my lenses and often do macro focus stacking which is hard with the point and shoots. If the M5 is able to give me a better sensor than I currently have while allowing me to use my current lenses (with adapter) in a smaller package, with an EVF then I’m all for it.

If anyone is like me and interested in getting the EVF-DC1, try to hold off a bit. Canonrumors has a hint at a EVF-DC2 to possibly released soon.

If this new camera has a decent battery, I may be interested. I hate small batteries that make me cringe at the thought of how I used to have to open up the camera and change film every 36 shots.

According to Canon Rumors (external link), The M5 will be announced next week ahead of Photokina. It will come in two kits which are with the:

EOS M5 15-45mm kit
EOS M5 18-150mm kit

I'm excited to see what the M5 has to offer once it's released. I'm real tempted to get it even though I already have the M3 ;-)a
