This is the wing-joint and part of the eye of an enormous moth (about 15cm wingspan) that landed on my motorbike's front tyre.
It kindly gave me the chance to try out a new lens, which I think will work out just fine after more practice.
Regards,
Simon

Hi Brian,
Long time no see ߘ

But, if you look at my sig. you'll see I'm all Olympus micro 4/3 now, due to dodgy wrists (and being fed up with doing pro work for less and less).

So, it's the M.Zuiko 60mm macro.

Cheers for now, and thanks for commenting.

Simon

15 cm wingspan is enormous, we don't get many moths like that in the UK, did you take the whole thing?

Hi davholla!

Thanks, and yes!
Actually, being an ex-pat from the UK, the sheer size (and with Wolf-spiders: their weight!) is the one thing that makes living in Southern Japan a serious challenge

But here are two more shots of the moth.

Regards,
Simon

Good shots. First would be a good guess what it is shot!

Thanks very much.

It's been really interesting switching from Canon to Olympus, and the 60mm M.Zuiko macro plus extension tubes is 'at least' as tricky as my old 100mm Canon macro with tubes was!!!

Not going to give up though, as all my gear now is SO much more portable!

Cheers for now,

Simon
