I've had 3x 622c's for a while now with no issues. With a Yongnuo 565 and 568.

Recently though, I can't seen to control them from the camera. They fire, but they are stuck in manual mode.. and even if I set them for ETTL from the camera, it make no difference.

I've replace batteries, etc.. and reset the flash settings in the camera.

Any thoughts?

As the 565 and 568 do not have ETTL, shouldn't only Manual be available? Can Manual levels not be set?

The YN5xx flashes do not have E-TTL capability, AFAIK. I checked the specs before replying, and E-TTL was not listed as a capability for either of your models.

Canon no longer uses "TTL", as it refers to a film camera technology. Nikon continues to use the term, but they do not refer to the same procedures.

Although HSS in Canon is processed through the "E-TTL" coding streams, HSS can be available even when the auto flash exposure calculations of the camera (what we normally think of as E-TTL) are not handled in the flash.

Ok I've got both of them turned on in front me of (without a camera) and I've set both to ETTL.
Maybe I've not been accurate with the models.. It's a yn568ex2 and a yn565ex.

Anyway.. I guess I'll keep experimenting to see where the problem lies.

Ah, you are right, at least about the YN568ex II! Sorry. It should work in ETTL.

Do you have:
5DIII + 622C
~> 622C + 568ex II
~> 622C + 565ex

Did this work for a while in ETTL and then stop? If so, then most likely it is due to poor contact between the hotshoe and hotfoot.

Mount one 622C on the camera and check that the menu functions work as expected - after - a shutter release. Try each 622C. If the behaviour is the same for each, check that the camera is set to the correct mode for Optical triggering.

Add the 568 setup to the mix. Set the flash manually to M and then use the camera menu to set it to ETTL.
