Lol, lucky I'm not in 'that' thread.

Yeah, no kidding . . . . . . look what happened to me :-x

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Medium to super tele with variable aperture is a very different lens. Wide angle to medium tele with constant aperture is another story.

Everything is possible, cost, size and weight are often prohibiting.

Then it's a good sign that all three are up?

Weight +19%
Length + 11mm
Cost+

It's actually more like $1250 as our prices include 20% VAT whereas the US prices are before tax. I know most in the US don't pay out-of-state taxes but that's a different story.

As part of the kit, I basically paid AU$1500 ~ US$1125, including 10% GST (our VAT) . That and considering Aussies normally get screwed on prices - it's not too bad.

Yes, definitely!

Whenever I wish that a lens could give more, optically, it always seems that the reason it doesn't give more is because the manufacturer does not want to increase cost, size, or weight, because they think that this will deter most people from buying it. I don't really care about those things - I am more than glad to carry around a few extra pounds, even if I am spending a day on very steep slopes with precarious footing. And I certainly am not going to let a few hundred extra dollars keep me from buying an optically superior lens, even though I am generally a cheapskate and literally flirt with the poverty line from time to time.

A lens' ability to help me create the kinds of images I want to create is pretty much worth whatever sacrifices I have to make.

So, with all that being said, I kind of wish that this had been a 24-135mm f2.8 with the latest generation of IS. And with the IQ of the new 100-400 throughout the entire zoom range, and at all apertures. Even it it would be twice as big and twice as heavy (which it would be). And even if it would cost $3,000 (which it would).

.

Some of those photos make no sense 203mm and 135mm how can that be?

Also he was forced to resize to 90%.

yup, the info displayed is inaccurate. Files are sized at 24MP.

I downloaded the second image of the arm tat, and then the monotone image of the graffiti, both had exif data in place but what was attached to the file was not the same as the website.

the grey graffiti seems like a decent image to evaluate. The corners look significantly sharper than my 24-105, but not tack sharp, a little post processing would probably clean them up.

This lens might be delayed until December. :-(

B&H and Amazon both have changed the release date to December. I pre-ordered from B&H in August, so I called them. B&H said that Canon has delayed this lens until December. They did say I was near the top of the list and would receive one whenever they get their first shipment.

Canon's web site still says shipping will begin on 10/31.

I guess we'll find out next week whether the lens really is delayed.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.
