.......I am merely wondering why some people are shocked that they get issues with images that they create using an unrealistic scenario that they have created in order to get the worst results possible from the camera....
Personally I would not expect to be able to get a usable image if i under exposed by 10 stops, but obviously the minority among us believe we should be able to...
Shame on you Canon for releasing a camera that is no use to any normal photographer

Your still missing the point. It is an artificial test designed to highlight a sensor shortcoming. Other manufacturers have figured out how to handle such extreme situations and deliver 1/2 decent results. Canon has had a long history of pattern noise and this test done on some of their earlier releases would lead to stunningly bad results. With this cameras and the 80D Canon seems to have finally caught up with the competition or at least gotten much closer.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Thanks you guys for setting me straight on the microadjustment.... 200L sits at a +13 verified from mfd to airplanes flying high. Rock solid and tack sharp.

At the first night game. Fields are better than previous littler fields. Outfield is 16,000-25,600 and infield is at 5,000-6,400 all at 1/640

I'll shutter this game from 1/640-1/1000 and could care less about the ISO.

Will have some good real world report tonight. Already the metering is SO MUCH better omg it's awesome

I went to B&Hs event of the 5D Mark IV. Rudy Winston was the guest speaker. Afterwards you can test the camera yourself.

I took out my CF card and took some shots with the 5D4. I gotta say, I may buy this before I thought I would! I especially like the Auto (White priority) setting.

Here's a before and after. Normal and AWB W applied.

Are you sure this was at B&H? Because that looks like Agamemnon Busmalis from Oz in the green vest :p

Another screenshot of my very technical DR tests. Again, probably a little over processed and not a huge push and pull, but the files feel like putty (it's probably just in my head).

I wouldn't say either of the images from your tests are over processed, both look great to me.

OK, I've seen a lot of discussion about pushing and pulling shadows. I did see someone say look at Digital picture to judge noise. However, what I'm interested is real world thoughts by photographers. If you were happy with 5D3 or 6D at 6400 where are you happy with 5D4 from an ISO perspective.

I'd use both of the cameras at 6400 all day. But it has to be a quality light at 6400. 1/30, f1.4 @ 6400 is much different than 1/160, f2.8 @6400 with a little off camera speedlite added in.

my reception lighting is usually 1/160, f4 @1600 with off camera flashes and I feel like I'd be happy shooting that for years. The Mark III is really an awesome camera and I can't wait to start using the IV on the job!

well it's the nature of the beast. People were doing lens cap tests when sony came out, lens cap ISO 3200 tests when the 5D3 came out.

there were some conclusions that were helpful, like finding weak spots of the sensor or finding light leak issues. So while these seemingly ridiculous tests may not be "real world", they do serve a purpose. Testing in extreme scenarios can show you what the camera excels out, it vets a product.

Anyone else feel like the colors are off, they just seem a bit warmer to me straight out of camera using AWB and RAW.

Thanks!

This camera is leaps and bounds better than the mk3 man. So amazing.

Seems ISO 4K to 12800 this game.

Amazing performance I'm so thrilled

Looking at sequences of running subjects today, I can't get this friggin camera to miss. It's sort of crazy. Is this what 1d users have been experiencing for years?

I think so... I did some running shots coming at me for 10-12 shots at a time and none missed. I would at times quickly raise the camera pointing to action away from me and mashing shutter boom got it. So awesome.

Could be because they now have ambience and white proirity awb. Might want to switch to white it's a bit cooler

475 Photos taken tonight at the game. Not a whole lot... selective shooting no more than about 2 or 3 image bursts... just two or three sequences of about 9-10 shots. I'd say I have about 12 images that are out of focus and you could chalk it up to being user error.

It's sickening. Lowest ISO was 4000... MOSTLY 6400... up to 20,000 for some during warm ups but all game play was between 5k and 8k ISO. F2 of course and kept the shutter mostly in the 640-1000 range mostly around 800.

Will be posting a few images up soon enough. I've pruned it down to 150 that I'm uploading for the team parents to have.

Anyone shooting tethered with the 5D4 (or 1DxII)?

I just got my tether tools USB 3.0 cable and it came with a pamphlet saying I need a Tetherboost Pro, or Tetherboost Controller. Can anyone shed a light on whether this is needed for using a single 15' cable?
