So what is everyone's favourite feature of the 5D4 vs the 5D3 so far? For me it is having exposure comp in Manual. I haven't shot in any other mode on the 7D2 and I expect it will be the same with the 5D4. It eliminates so much fiddling around.

Thanks for your inputs, 1.4 it may be then. Or a Sigma 150-600 Sport. Bit of a difference, I know! :p

If you want to go long, this is really a far better way to go.
A 1.4x added will always be a useful tool, (it will even work on a 150-6000mm!) but the SIGMA C 150-600mm which can be had on special (keep an eye out) for sometimes less than $800.00 is an AMAZING deal, and will likely be far better than any Zoom with a 2X.

Consider that the Canon MkIII t-cons are over $400.00 new. ($430.00 at B&H)

I got my SIGMA 150-600mm on special for $700.00 new.

No question which is best bang fr the buck in my book.
T-Cons IMHO work best when your already at the limits of the lens and want a little more.

With the 600mm zooms, you rarely want more!

I actually found a useful setup for the min/max hard overwrite function in the custom function. Last night I set the min to 250 and the max to 2000. I stuck the camera in manual mode... flipped the lock lever only to lock the back wheel... this allowed me to lock in 2.8. kept the camera in auto ISO and let the af selector button in the back be my EC method and then all that was left was to flip the top dial quickly left or right to go from 250 to 2000 depending on the action needed. It allowed me from not having to worry about going too high or too low. I knew if I wanted to be at 250 just flip it and it would stop there since I set it.

Further details in button customization by accessing sub menus. This is a game changer for me. Many are lamenting about not having the ability to customize every button with any possible setting, I'm applauding the incremental (and significant to me) advancement Canon has added to the 5D4. I've been comfortable changing most settings while looking through the viewfinder anyway, but the stacked customization commands add a new dimension.

way way way too many to call out a favorite. I made a list a long time ago that had some 50+ improved features. SO for me it's all of those. but the anti-flicker is a big deal for me.

Thanks Talley. I'm not familiar with the function so I'm having a hard time visualizing what you are saying. I'll have to give it a go later on.

I'm enjoying the customization as well. I wish there was a way to change the AF area selection without having to press two buttons in sequence but as far as I can tell there is no way around it. I know the secondary AF selection button can be programmed with a different AF area but it would be great to be able to cycle through them with one button.

Congrats!

I pulled the trigger myself last night! Getting it Monday. That event I went to at B&H was enough to convince me! I guess they know what they're doing!

Now off I go to sell the 5D3.

I'll give you $3.82 for it :)

My laptop came with a touch screen, a Yoga. I didn't think I would use. At home, on my workstation is where I use the forum the most, no touch screen. It turns out that as soon as I get on the laptop, even if it's only once a month or so, I start to intuitively use the touch screen, to scroll through threads, to press the submit button. (Pekka of course is heavy into B&D, thus the name of that button)

Anyway, despite the decades of muscle memory with camera controls, and most of that memory being very specific to the D30/10D/5D/7D2 etc. dual wheel set up, . I find that I almost automatically seem to know when to press the touch screen instead or scrolling while in the menus.
For shooting, it will take me longer to adopt it's use, but for menus, I'm already hooked.

I dread the moment I am back shooting 7D2 and start hammering in the touch screen with no result.

Jake, don't you have the SL1? I've been using the touch screen on it for years and I think it's similar to the 5D4 in that the image review, Q screen and menus are all available. However, I'll be able to compare them myself next week :-D

So first impressions after shooting some rugby:

I love the sound of the shutter, much quieter.

Touch screen is great and the screen generally is wonderful for reviewing images, they really pop!

Auto focus is sharp and responsive.

I shot video for a laugh and fell in love with how different and better it is v the 7D and 5D2. Touch screen auto focus...wow!!!

I bought that deal and so did Gabe. We both sold ours not a week later. He already owned the Tamron and kept it. I've always wanted to pick up the Tamron and have just been waiting on a good deal. Now the version 2 is announced I think it may be a better performer.

I own one, but I've rarely ever shot it. I got it with a printer, ink and paper practically for free, and my daughter uses it. When I do use it, I tend to try and muddle through the rebel like controls. But yes I have used it's touch screen, it's just so rarely I've never gotten used to it.

For me its just 5 years of memory muscle to overcome. It's growing on me though.

It has already grew on me, took my 7DII out this morning and started looking at my shots hitting the screen with my finger
