Interesting question, as I'm into air show photography.

Compared to the 1DXII, it's about $2500 less expensive. That will pay for the 100-400 II lens, if desired.

And 30mp means more pixel density than the 1DXII. Even with a long lens I some times need to crop a lot.
Those little aerobatic planes can fly high into the sky. The extra pixels may help.

The slower frame rate and small buffer can be a disadvantage at times. But it's not a deal breaker for me.
But I have not studied the 5D4 specs completely, so I don't know how the AF performance of the two
cameras compare. I did read one comment that says they have a lot in common.

These are my exact thoughts. I really like my 7d2 but my 5D3 AF was always more consistent. I expect the 5D4 to be better. I want to see some crop examples as I have the 100-400 II and can't see getting a longer lens anytime soon.

I've checked out the samples. Jpegs, they are nice, nothing really spectacular but afterall these are jpegs. We'll know more when the first RAW files start circulating. I'm debating whether I should invest in one of these or just keep on using what I have, or even get a now ever cheaper 5DIII. I am definitely excited about this camera, I like using my 5DIII for weddings (along with a 6D and occasionally my 80D). I am soon replacing the 6D with something though.

It's great that the 5DIII gets Dual Pixel AF. DPAF is one of the reasons I started to use my 80D, with fast lenses, during wedding receptions. The live view DPAF is faster and more accurate than the VF-based AF under "reception" conditions. And I can raise the camera as well and still see the scene. It'll be great to do that with a full framer (whenever I buy one of course :) ) Of course the 5DIV doesn't have the flippy screen but it should still work relatively well in those situations.

I really like my 5DIII for weddings and events. Really, I'd say only the 1 series beats it, although I never liked the 1 series ergonomics hence I shoot with the 5D. The 5DIII wasn't/isn't perfect of course and this 5DIV seems to remedy most of the minor issues I had with the 5DIII.

And even though I also own a Sony A7RII, I'd probably never use that for a wedding. Battery life, speed of operation, ergonomics, etc. there are a bunch of reasons I'm not willing to risk using it even though its IQ is better. I use my Sony for real estate shots (which I do even more than weddings) where it shines.

Just a note at the end, it's already very entertaining to read the various comments on the 5DIV. On one of the websites that posted the official Canon samples shots people already started trashtalking it :) "3-year old specs", "Meh, nothing here" and similar comments. But my favorite one was the one that says "these could have been taken with a GoPro" :D Yeah, there are a couple photos of bears catching fish and a mama bear playing with a cub (600mm f/4 IS II used). I'd like to see (or perhaps I don't) someone attempting to get those shots, with the same framing, with a GoPro. Knowing how tough GoPros are, I have no doubts that it would survive the encounter, the photographer on the other hand definitely wouldn't.

I tried out the 80D. If 5D4 is anything like it I will be very interested.

Not sure if this was posted. I was not sure about this guy a few years ago but he is pretty accurate.

I found it here. As expected the AF area selection lever. I'm glad Canon did that. Love it on my 7D2.

Honestly as an astro guy myself, I would add the Rokinon 14/2.8 to the 16-35/4 IS or just buy a Tamron 15-30/2.8 VC. I see the 16-35/2.8 III as more of an event shooter lens.

I like the Rok; great for the money, but it is a bit soft wide open. Iffy quality control too, so you have to gamble on getting a good one (my first was terrible, the second pretty good).

I'm still waiting for this to be announced.

interesting video but you thing a photography review site could invest in at least a consumer grade video stabilization platform instead of giving the one guy deep into the DTs from alcohol withdrawal the camera to hand hold. :):):)

I couldn't even watch it. I was embarrassed for them. They should be ashamed for posting such crap.
