anybody know how this will work? you lose the sd slot? what is the advantage to wifi on your camera slow d/l of pictures?

Yes, you lose the SD slot. They missed the boat on this one in my opinion as a 16/32/64gb options in the card would have sold well, even with a higher price tag.

Advantages include being able to tether without cords, and being able to upload/share on the go.

Imagine your a sports shooter- no pulling the card to get your images to your editor at halftime. Wifi to you your phone/tablet/laptop and send them off. Same if you are away from your traditional backups in the field. Wirelessly backup to a device you have with you. As an event shooter, send to your laptop/phone/tablet and create a sneak peek you can show or share instantly.

It will also allow you to use the canon connect app- so you can control your camera remotely from your phone.

for me it is not worth the losing the slot I agree should have had storage as well as wi fi
