I'm about to acquire an XT-2 when it comes out. This will be my first non Canon camera. Have not seen any info about software that comes with the camera. Would like to know what everyone uses to process their raw files. Thanks.

I am still using Lightroom CC. I know the product and it does a great job. It can require a bit of a learning curve though. There are a lot of arguments for other post processing software - I hear a lot of good about Capture One and Irridient, but I am not really familiar with either. I have played with trial offers, but so far do not see anything that fits me better than Lightroom. Lightroom is simply my favorite.

Thank you for the response. Did your X-t1 not come with any kind of basic converter? Something I could use until I decide which to get. I've always used DPP with my Canons.

There is something called Silky Pix I believe, but never used it. I already had and knew how to use Lightroom.

Raw File Converter from Fuji is based on Silky Pix. Get it here for free:

I use Lightroom CC. I have tried capture One and iridient in the past and I feel the small improvements they might offer is outweighed by having another software to incorporate into the workflow. That said, Capture One is much faster than Lightroom. My Fuji .RAF files take 3x as long to import into Lr than my Canon .CR2

Hey thanks for the replies and thanks for the link. I'll check that out.

Most if not all of the program's mentioned here have free trials which tend to be 30 days. This is a great way to try them out.

My preference is Capture One. It is a significant step up from Adobe LR or Camera Raw for processing Fuji files. It also has some powerful tools and much better exposure adjustment and highlight and shadow recovery tools which look natural. The advanced color editor is a powerful tool which is, AFAIK, unique to C1.

Does Adobe's DNG converter work with X-T2 files - for those of us that haven't upgraded to LR 6/CC

I have not been happy with lightroom's raw conversion from my X-T2. As much I would like to keep using lighroom as a one stop tool, I have decided to move away from that workflow. To get the best results I am doing some test between Irident X-transformer beta ( for windows) vs the free silkypix converter that came with the fuji camera.

I will be doing the initial culling in FastRawViewer (using the X-T2 jpeg file to review my keepers, as I shoot Raw+Fine). Then do a batch conversion to either DNG using X-Transformer or TIFF using silkypix, and then load them into lightroom for final adjustments.

I also just loaded C1 trial to see how it performs compared to lighroom. But my workflow will stay the same using either X-transformer or silkypix for raw conversion, as C1 currently does not support fuji compressed raw format.

Yes it does. It's what I'm currently using to convert since I'm still using LR5

Thanks. I was a little puzzled because when I tried it out and navigated to the SD card it did not show any file so I quit. On trying again and selecting the relevant folder (even though no files were shown) it worked. Not sure if this was because Win8.1 wasn't recognising the files or if it is just how the converter work - either way it converted OK.

Unfortunately I am not sure that this will be a viable long term solution. My understanding is that LR 5 isn't very good at processing Fuji RAW files (and DNG is just a RAW file in a wrapper).

Not quite. DNG is a generic RAW format converted from your specific RAW file.

You can instruct it to also include your original RAW file "in a wrapper," so to speak, but this doubles the size of the DNG file.

So your original file is only included if you so instruct and, even so, the generic conversion is still generated.

I use Photo Ninja to convert .CR2s and love the results. I haven't used Fuji cameras at all but I have read that a lot of those who do use them get good results with Photo Ninja. Might be worth adding that to your trial.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
