What to do with my manual focus 5d classic?

Camera repair confirmed that the AF is off on my 5dc, significant backfocus. Cost to recalibrate and clean does not make sense ($200+) and I had been using the body as a manual focus camera anyways. Pretty much has had a C/Y Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 on it for the last year or so, but the combo was only occasionally used, EOS-m was more convenient for manually focusing (smaller set up and live view).

Otherwise the body works fine. Have a S type precision matte focusing screen and running Magic Lantern pretty much maxes out the manual focusing aids. Have a variety of manual focus prime lenses from 20mm to 135mm and appropriate adapters, both EOS and EOS-m.

I am thinking that, despite the cons typically associated with manual focus zoom lenses, the convenience of a mid range zoom and having some sort of closer focusing “macro” mode would offset the cons I had with my 50mm prime. The legacy world seems to really like the C/Y Zeiss 35-70 f/3.4 and I like how my 50mm renders images, so that seems like the most obvious option IF I am trying to maximize IQ on a 12MP camera.

Looking for opinions on other lenses (yes, I know this is the camera subforum), as well as other ideas on what to do with this camera, I have already considered selling at discount, but decided to keep it for now, maybe give away at on the holiday thread...

OK, I don't know if this is relevant to the 5D, but there is a website that talks about adjusting the autofocus of a 350D yourself here.

Merci! Looks like he also tried on a 20d with success. Since they were all released in 2005, I am hopeful. Time to find a 1.3mm hex bit.

With bottom screw you are changing the angle of AF mirror.
If your AF is off because somehow the angle of AF mirror has changed then this is the right way.
But if your auto focus is off because of other reasons like displaced focusing module then this is not a good way to do it. You will only be able to adjust one horizontal row of focusing points (for example the row with center focusing point). The upper focusing points will be off in one direction (for example back focusing) and lower focusing points will be off in other direction (for example front focusing) - because you are adjusting the angle of AF mirror.
I would first do some tests if all the focusing points give you the same amount of back focusing. If yes then you need to adjust the focusing module.
I have no experiences with Canon cameras but I know, how to adjust AF module on Nikon cameras.

Looked into this some more. 5dc has the same screw slot.

I think you are right, the screw mentioned above, seems to affect the mirror or AF points and not the sensor or AF/AS mechanism itself. Because ALL the tested lenses are backfocusing and I only use center focusing point anyways, I am thinking even if I shifted the mirror plane so that the focusing points are not actually where the camera is focusing, I should still be able to find a setting where I force the image to front focus enough (relative to the center point), which makes it seem like focus is on. Might affect the outer points, some people say it doesnt, but camera would become AF usable again.

Going to proceed slowly.

Thanks, found the FM yesterday and saved the POTN for lunch reading. Found a couple other random sites and a few threads on dp.

Looks easy enough and I have no issues superficially playing around with my dslr, did the alcohol for sticky button trick on the 50d which lead me to taking out some of the screws to see and clean the inside.

Time is of course the issue. I still have 1000s of pics from disney land from last month to cull, edit, and print; play around with my lenses which came back from service last week, play pokemon go, and still do my daily life stuff...
