pknight Goldmember More info Post edited over 7 years ago by pknight. | Sep 16, 2016 10:49 | #77 Just noticed in the fine print on the 150-600 G2 brochure (link above in an earlier post) that this lens comes with a case! That is something new for Tamron, unless the other lenses in the new SP line also have cases. I have owned five Tamron lenses, and none of them came with a case. Digital EOS 90D Canon: EF 50mm f/1.8 II, EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro, Life-Size Converter EF Tamron: SP 17-50mm f/2.8 DiII, 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 DiII VC HLD, SP 150-600 f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2, SP 70-200 f/2.8 Di VC USD, 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 DiII VC HLD Sigma: 30mm f/1.4 DC Art Rokinon: 8mm f/3.5 AS IF UMC

Sep 24, 2016 11:00 | #79 Has anyone seen any updates on shipping time here? I was also trying to find a digitalrev, matt granger etc preview of this at photokina but I am not seeing much. Was this even on display at photokina? Sep 24, 2016 11:24 | #80 Choderboy wrote in post #18129726 If what you say is correct, why did Canon introduce MFA? The dock is not just for focus calibration. It allows firmware updates and also customisation with regards to stabilization and focus limit distances. In my opinion that puts Sigma ahead of Canon for features. I had a Sigma 150-600 Sport and did not find the need to make any focus adjustments. It just worked and it worked very well. I am glad you were fortunate to enjoy a good quality lens.

There are new teleconverters to go with it as well. Thanks. I looked at his channel and don't know how I missed it. Sep 24, 2016 13:21 | #85 I know I should just buy the 100-400 II but I could also get an UWA zoom which I also want along with this 150-600 G2 for the same price as the 100-400. I want to see more in-detail reviews to see how close those two really are. I am thinking that 150 is too long on the wide end for soccer. I'd really like a 70-400 or 80-400 or whatever Nikon has kind of option. My plan is to mount a long tele permanently to 7D for birding, wildlife and sports etc and just leave it on.

Reviews indicate that even cropped to 600 its sharper than 160-600 variants so that's something to consider. I know there is a price difference but Tamron is going up in price too and 100-400 MK II can be had for around $1800 used or refurbished. So I might cave in to Canon, more so to do with trust among other things but I will definitely wait until reviews on G2 comes out. Tony Northrup did a comparison of the 100-400, Tamron 150-600 and Sigma 150-600 (I think this is it)

Then again it was when I bought it £150 cheaper than the Sigma and a few hundred less than the 100-400mm so that should be expected. That was 1st gen, correct? flickr

Early reviews say incremental increase in IQ, soft with 1.4TC. Soon enough I'll be judging at home. Yes sorry I should have said that.
