Here are some rough composites from a vehicle shoot I did recently. I used one 36x48 soft box and a lot of elbow grease and light painting to light the vehicles in multiple locations and then composited the resulting images. It took a while to visualize the shots that I needed, and not everything worked perfectly, but this is a pretty cool approach to getting a nice looking image. The ability to light and fill for multiple directions gives a feel of hyper-real, ambient occlusion style rendering (pardon the CG terminology).
Studio on a budget!
