CUTE KIDS!!! The lighting (again) is VERY nice, also you handled the background well, dark enough to be be nondescript, but light enough to still be able to seperate the twins from it.

In both images the eyes are dead center vertically which leaves lots of dead space above their heads. In the first image the twin at camera left is OOF. Stopping the lens down a couple more stops should give you sufficient DOF to take care of this in the future. I see this image as a horizontal which had this been shot that way would eliminate the uninteresting area at the bottom (their chests) and the dead space above their heads and it would have opened up the sides of the image for more 'breathing' room. There are lopped off fingers growing out of the twin at camera right in both images which is a definate no no. The 'rule' is show as few hands and/or fingers as possible but still tell the story, and if hands or fingers do show, DON'T lopp them off at a joint or lopp off a few fingers. I would have simply placed the hand lower on the back and it wouldn't have shown. Lastly I realize these are candid portraits but the twin in blue in the second image is slumped over a bit. A slight tap on the back will cause the subject to sit up and look more alert and interesting.

The plane of focus in the left hand shot seems to be out in front of the subjects, so I am going to call that a focusing error. They seem to be sharper in the image to the right.

I agree that there is enough nothingness above them that a little cropping is in order.

However, the composition is very good; the lighting is very good although just a little too hot; and the color balance seems to be right on the mark.

Very nicely posed and very nice informal portraits.

Except for the exposure being a little too much, the 3-dimensionality is very good as a result of the direction of the light and it is diffuse (not too harsh), which is very good for the young subjects.

Hi Chrnat, Your last image is great. I would have added a little contrast and cropped tighter (but that's just me...). I did what I suggested in PS and here is where I ended up. What do you think?

Are they your kids?

Hi,

I agree with the contrast - I did slide around for a while as its a RAW

The crop is good but the left chin for me is too low. It would be good to get other members view on that one inparticular Roberts

Thanks for taking the time

Looks good to me, the second one looks ever so slighlty overexposed on the skin, I would suggest adjusting the curves in PS

I'm not much good at critiquing portraits, but those girls are absolutely adorable!
