Deal Castle on the Southeast coast of the county of Kent. UK.
Built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1540.
The castle presents a low profile from the sea.

He was a busy boy that Henry. I'll never know how he found time to do all that stonework while satisfying (and occasionally beheading) his six wives!

Yes, our Henry was a very busy boy, and one might say a rather naughty boy.
My mind boggles to think they could build a castle like that in a year, it took me three months to build my summer house :-)

Looks like part of the entrance is now missing which is a shame from the 2 large holes above the gateway, and perhaps part of the gate "doorway"(?) is no longer there.

But it does look impressive!
