The Barbican Gate. Sandwich. Kent. UK.
A minor fortification rather than a castle. Constructed in Tudor period (1485-1602) as part of King Henry the Eighth's fortifications against foreign invasion.

I see King Henry VIII installed a red traffic light to prevent the foreign invaders from going any further.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

The lights along with the no entry sign would stop anyone!

I have always been fascinated by all of the talk of the sea rising, etc. Sandwich used to one of the Cinq Ports in 'enery's time. It's about 2 miles inland now. I wonder if that's due to the drop in the level of the oggin! That's the sea, just in case you din't know the the oggin

Had his head screwed on, did our ‘enery, and he didn’t lose it as easily as his wives seemed to.:-)
It was King George VI who installed the traffic lights when we thought Adolf’s merry men were likely to do a grand tour of our country in 1940.
We’ve now installed a permanent barrier, we call it the M25.

Fort-la-Latte, Northern Brittany. Taken from the very top of the keep. The fort that was featured in the 1952 film The Vikings. Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis.

The top was accessed by an open stair like approach and the only hand hold was a thick rope laying on the steps. Health-n-safty would have gone bonkers BIG TIME!

Thanks Blake. Thanks for your comment. There are lots of nice photogenic villages around the UK, but familiarity breeds contempt and the nice pictures can easily get overlooked and never further than magnetised particles or electric charges on an HDD or SSD.:-)
I am just going through my files and turning some of my previous shots into interesting pictures with a bit of history attached. I hope I am succeeding.
Regards
