I have a 1DsMk3 that I just sent in for service, bad battery or charger I think...When will Canon cease servicing that model?

The 5D was launched in 2005, its replacement 5DII was launched in 2008, 5D service discontinued in 2015.

The 1DIII was launched in 2007, its 1DIV replacement was launched in 2009...I would speculate that perhaps 1DIII service discontinues in 2017.

1Ds MkIII launched 2007, 1DX launched 2011, I still guestimate end of 1DsIII as 2017

So many similar parts, they likely will get the same date.

that said, possibly the 1DsIII a little longer, but I have not looked at the historic precedent. We'd know if we knew when 1D and 1Ds and 1D2 and 1Ds2 got their respective knock on the door.

As another data point the 1Ds MkII was launched in 2004, and on 11/2012 someone posted, " Just took my 1D Mark II into Canon for a clean and check and found out they recently stopped servicing it. Stated that it was just past its service life and that they no longer service it."
8-10 years after launch.

Tis a sad state of affairs that Ford will service cars over sixty years old and Canon is good for 10 years.

Watch how well (poorly) the electronics laden Fords and other cars of 2015 are supported in 2075! Unlike mechanical parts which can be measured and duplicated even decades after part become scare, no one can fabricate the complex electronic circuitry! Your electronic engine management unit or electronic spark control goes bad, or the such and such electronic sensor goes bad, the engine stops running and cannot be replaced except by scavenging electronic parts from a donor car.
