There are things that perhaps can help; what O/S are you using?

I have a similar issue every now and then on Mac OS. And it seems like it only happens when I need to run out the door. Have yet to find a solution that works for longer than a week.

I assume that the OP meant that when he usually performs the function “Remove USB Drive” and then concentrates on another task, it usually is removed by the OS cleanly and quickly.:-)

But, if he sits there, eyeballing the operation, it either refuses to be “Removed” or simply takes much longer.:-(

Much like watching a kettle boil – it takes longer than if your attention is occupied by some other task.;-)a

Cheers

Dennis

It crossed my mind and struck me as funny earlier today when I was waiting for my external drive to eject (i.e. finish closing for PC users) so I could unplug it from my macbook and go about my business. A watched pot never boils. I'm not looking for suggestions or help. Just sayin.

lol. i read the subject and the kettle/boils thing was what I was thinking, but I was expecting a punchline.

there something known as a "watched folder" that like i was saying will trigger a command line or other script when something shows up in there.

oh well, carry on.

I suspect it has something to do with Quantum Entanglement, where the observer cannot be considered to be an independent, objective entity that is separate or unconnected from what he or she is observing.:-);-)a

Cheers
