Sometimes it pays to be blessed...My 1Ds3 would not start after 4 months of inactivity and battery would not charge.

Sent the camera to the New Jersey repair center last Saturday...email first thing this morning with a $250 estimate...
called them and explained the problem, the gentleman on the phone (my bad that I don't recall his name) said he would
check and call me back in a couple of hours, which he did. He called back and said the technician had serviced said camera
and was shipping it back at no charge, in spite of it being out of warranty. Bad battery was culprit, which I gotta replace.

I bought that camera in 2008, never joined their pro club or anything else.
It does pay to be blessed...and good looking.

.

That NJ service center has been very good to me, too.

A few years ago I took mu 400 f2.8 and my 100-400mm v1 in for a check and clean. The front elements on both lenses were scratched up pretty badly. I asked them to let me know what it would cost to replace the front elements. I didn't plan to have the elements replaced, I was just curious about what the price might be. A couple days later they called and said that the work on the lenses was done and I could come in and pick them up. When I went there and spoke to the girl at the counter, she went over the paperwork with me. To my utter amazement, BOTH front elements were replaced at NO CHARGE. They also replaced the complete AF system in each lens. No charge. In fact, the total bill was ZERO, even though the itemized price list of what it should have cost was well over $2,000. Might have even been over $3,000, but I forget the details as it's been a few years.

So yes, there certainly is absolutely awesome customer service at that NJ service center!

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Nice to know but I won't call it blessed..is not like there is a Canon god deciding who should get charged or not....:) Is just some random free service they do. For reasons no one knows. Well, back when I was shooting Canon, I had to send in my 580ex II for a replacement flash tube. It got burnt out. It happened once a year and usually during the cycling race seasons when I shot a lot. They did charge me like $150.
