Gorgeous John.

Thanks David. In some ways I'm still figuring this body out.. in particular how much headroom I have in the highlights. It's definitely different than the 5DII but I haven't gotten a really good feel for it yet. I REALLY wish they would come up with a RAW histogram.

Hey everyone! I just ordered a refurbished 5d4 from Canon. I couldn't pass up $2800!
Upgrading from the 6d, which I am about to trade for a 7d2.
I'd love to know if anyone is shooting sports or wildlife such as birds in flight and how has the 5d4 handled the fast movement?
I imagine since the sensor is similar to the 1dx2, quick moving subjects wouldn't be a challenge for the 5d4..

Thanks in advance!

I shoot football with it and it handles it just fine. Just make sure your AF case mode is right, usually on 2 or 4 and it shouldnt be a problem.

Anyone know if the 5D4 can keep the back screen lit to show settings, but turn off when you put it up to your face? One of my cameras did this but I forget which one (I think the 50D).

Very nice feature. Right now I'm stuck constantly cycling thru with the Info button so I don't blind myself at night.

I don't want to turn it off with the Info button because then when I want to select an AF point, I can't see it on the screen or use the touch screen to select which I do sometimes. (among many other things as well.) And even a half-press of the shutter turned it off on my older camera. It really was a nice setup.

I would love this! but I dont think this camera has it. Id also love for it to detect your face when close so thr touch screen would disable. My nose changes settings quite often.

Yeah I was hoping there was a setting I just missed. I'm pretty sure it would "disable" the touchscreen too since it would effectively be turned off when close to your face. Now that I think on this more, I'm pretty sure it was my 50D that did this (without the "touch" aspect of course).

That's too bad. I think my 400D back in 2006 even had a proximity sensor :(

I suppose an issue that they would have to overcome would be how to automatically deactivate the proximity sensor when the photographer is simply trying to use touch screen functions. I'm sure the problem could be overcome--it requires something that can differentiate between an eye being close to the OVF and fingers and thumbs being close to the touch screen. But it is less straightforward than in the pre-touch-screen days.

Looks like this is something for the next edition.

The G5-X does this now. Doesn't seem like it would be very hard to add it to a DSLR.
