Here are some photos from the Sedro-Woolley Loggerodeo festival. There are some chainsaw carving images in the 1DX2 thread.

Lots of color and dynamic range in this shot.

The G5-X does this now. Doesn't seem like it would be very hard to add it to a DSLR.

The G5-X does not have a touchscreen does it?

Still, it can't be an insurmountable issue and I'll bet there is a camera out there that has both a touchscreen and a functioning proximity sensor ... and that can tell the difference between an eye and a finger.

I suppose an issue that they would have to overcome would be how to automatically deactivate the proximity sensor when the photographer is simply trying to use touch screen functions.

Good point...I didn't think of that. But even letting us do a half-press on the shutter to get rid of it would have been nice...bring it back after the photo is taken. Better than nothing.

Yes, the screen on the G5X is a touchscreen. It turns off when the camera is about an inch from your eye, and the EVF is activated. When you take the camera away from your eye, the EVF turns off and the touchscreen turns back on. I had one for a while. Despite its convenience, both my wife and I kept reaching for our DSLRs.

Thanks for putting me right.

I remember my A7R also had a proximity sensor for that same usage. It didn't have a touch screen to deactivate but that doesn't make any difference. The sensor was located in the eyepiece to detect when your face was close but to ignore your hands when you were adjusting the tilt of the screen

I heard you can program "lock" the screen the lock switch.. But that would be annoying to change things with a nose..
Maybe having the eye extender on it would help!?!?
