This is really a beautifully captured image. The sharpness and composition are excellent.

Beautiful shot Annie. The snow covered mountains in the background are really captivating.

Yes, the 1Dx2 is known to be quicker.

I think terminology is the culprit here. The "system" is the same for both, and thus the overall abilities. However, the 1Dx2 (and all 1D bodies historically) have much more powerful dedicated AF processors and more voltage to drive that system.

I am one that often says it is the same system, but I don't claim they are equal.

That said, for me, the 5D4 is the second best AF of any Canon DSLR ever made.
1Dx is faster at certain aspects, so some can rightfully argue that the 1Dx is "better" but it lacks the 5D4's (and 1Dx2's) abilities to use all AF points @ f/8, lack of slow down with T-cons, (with the right t-con and lens) low light focus, grid size, etc.

If Canon had put the 1DxII AF processing power into the 5D4, (assuming it could fit, and work with the smaller battery) there would be little other than frame rate to set the 1Dx2 apart.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as if the bigger battery in the 1dx2 can drive the lens USM faster.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as if the bigger battery in the 1dx2 can drive the lens USM faster.

With certain lenses, this is true, although it's not the biggest difference. The larger difference is the processioning power making the differences in how fast the calculations are made. That the 1Dx burst rates are so much faster than the 5D bodies = a much faster more powerful processor to make those 10-14 fps calculations.

Here is a quote from Chuck Westfall (rip) describing the differences between the 5D3 and 1Dx, another pair with the "same AF system" but with different capabilities from each.

"Lens drive speed: Because of its higher voltage battery, the 1Dx can supply an initial burst of power to select L-series USM telephoto lenses that drives them twice as fast as normal for the first second of operation. The 5D Mark III can't do that because its battery is lower voltage, and also because the camera body is not designed to accept higher voltage even if it was available."

My apology, I thought I had responded to your inquiry a day or two ago but I don't see my post in reply. In any case, yes, it was with my Siggy. For the price, it's quite able lens.
