I'm amazed at how little distortion there is in the birds reflection.
And moreover how there are no ripples from the tear in the water.
I went birding last weekend and every time the gull or whatever touched the water it left concentric waves on the surface.
Most annoying.

I'm a bit out of practice with things that move! This was taken at Bedford RAE / RAF Thurleigh on the Tornado's final tour.

This was over a little cove that is part of a much larger lake. The whole lake was still so the cove, being more sheltered, was like glass. The tear where his wing tip touched did ripple out but you don't see it in that frame as the time from the touch to where the bird is in that frame is probably 10 milliseconds or so.

I really appreciate your comments on these, you guys. I like them quite a bit too.

Ohhhh man those are good, and yeah, the ripple makes it, seriously well done

Yippee!!!! Managed to grimace through the broken wrist pain and go out today with the 5DIV, albeit with the lighter 24-70 f4L IS lens attached rather than the 100-400, which is still far too heavy for me to manage. The light was poor, it was drizzling and the photos are nothing special, but it was just nice to have the 5DIV in my (painful) hands again. Plaster cast coming off soon, I hope.
