Sometimes You just can believe your luck. These woodies are very hard to find and capture in the wild. I went to Victoria BC for 2 days and I took the 5D4 and a 100-400 with me. I was looking to do some photography and On a google search someone posted that they saw woodies at a place called Kings Pond. It was about 8 miles from out hotel So I said what the heck. I ventured over and check it out.

So I walk up and see all these lovely Canadians out in the sunshine feeding about 100 pairs of mallards and was thinking this is going to be a bust for sure. Then I looked in the pond and just about crapped.

There were 8 pairs of these nesting woodies in this little pond. Could not believe what i saw. People feed the mallards in this pond. These woodies were hiding among them. I was literally 6-8 ft from them as they were floating under branches from bushes that were hanging over the water in this pond area.

Talk about being lucky and in the right place and the right time. 5D4 tracked them great. I need to develop these. These are straight off captures with a base preset.

Todays jobs included getting a 'go bag' ready for the kids colouring stuff, so we are ready and prepared next time we head to a restaurant! After sharpening all the pencils I saw a photo op!!
