What a shot! I like how some leaves stayed stationary, so the viewer knows what made the colors in the swirl.

So, I purchased my 5D Mk IV in August and after getting familiar with it I took a trip with the wife last week. We went to Jerome, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and Canyon de Chelly in Chinle, AZ.

While taking some photos in Monument Valley with my 70-200 IS II attached, I decided to entertain the rest of the tourists. After taking a shot I turned 180 degrees and tripped over a small wall driving the

camera and myself into the ground.

The lens hood hit the ground first, then my face hit the hot shoe of the camera with all my weight behind it. Then my knees and elbows. I hit hard, and it sounded like a small car crash. It hurt like hell but all I

could think about was my new gear. I thought for sure it was going to be in pieces and vacation was over.

When I got up, there was a clump of beard hair tangled in the hot shoe and my face was bleeding. I looked over my camera and lens and saw a small scuff on the lens hood. No scratches on the lens, none on the

camera. I couldn't believe the lens was still attached.

I aimed my camera, took several shots, checked the rear screen and all was working well. I went in the building, sat at a table, removed the lens, inspected the flanges and found nothing wrong.

Then I started laughing. My wife thought I must have wacked my head. But it was the combination of being happy about my gear, and picturing in my mind what a scene I caused, and it cracked me up.

Anyway, the whole purpose of this post is that Canon makes some truly tuff stuff, and I'm a believer.

I really couldn't find a proper thread for this story, so I hope it's ok here. If not, the mods can delete it.

Take Care,

Jack

I've dropped a T2i onto concrete. I've fallen on loose rocks with a 70-200 f/4 and a 6D on a tripod over my shoulder. All worked perfectly after. They know cameras are not to be delicate.
