Yummy little treat...

A texture and detail rich scene from the lagoon near Saksun on Streymoy in the Faroe Islands. Almost straight away I had a vision of how it would look in black and white and this is the result.

Amazing view of Leitisvatn Lake on Vágar in the Faroe Islands. It is a wonderful sight in real life but in photos it comes across really pushing the boundaries of reality in terms of how we perceive depth and dimension.

Fantastic pics! Added to my bucket list for a visit.

Let me start off by saying that I have NEVER shot video on any DSLR. I shoot stills in RAW with JPEG M setting. I want to try shooting video at some drag races while in the pit area up close and personal to the cars. The nitro cars are VERY loud. I currently use an old Zoom Q3 HD camcorder. It actually does a good job of recording the audio correctly without it being blown out if that makes sense but the video quality is not up to todays standards. I do put a piece of foam over the mics.
I see that the 5D has a sound recording manual mode for video. I assume I would need to use this but I'm wondering how will I know if it is doing a good job of recording the audio without it being blown out? I don't have the option of watching the video clips on a TV at the race. I assume an external mic would be the way to go but will that give me more control of the recording levels?
Also, can I save the video to a separate card slot different than my stills memory card? I don't think I'll have a need for 4K so I'll probably shoot in the FHD 59.94P IPB setting unless someone can tell me a reason to use a different quality setting. More questions to come I'm sure.
Any help would be appreciated.

The 5D won't let you record stills to one and video natively, but there is a work around. A Google search will give you it, but you will only be able to shoot RAW stills from what I remember
