This body is insane. I can hardly wait when it warms up in 3 months so I can get some good BIF action. No winter get away this year.

I went out yesterday to take some test shots with my new acquisition, a 1.4x TC mkIII. I don't use TCs often and never bothered to upgrade from the mkII all these years. However, I suspected I'd get a better IQ from the III with the mkIV and the 100-400 II... and then there was the big carrot on the stick that the mkIII would give me AF at all 61 points (at f8), compared to the mkIIs single centre point. So, mkII went off on eBay, and new mkIII arrived, and off I went.

So, I found myself shooting at some young moorhens that were in heavy shade, mid-afternoon on the shortest day of the year (at latitude 56 degrees north), confined to f8 or thereabouts. Result was ISO 25,600. So, the shots here are a kind of extreme test of everything involved: the 5D mkIV, the 100-400 II and the 1.4x III. I was impressed with the results I got... all things considered!

You are safe, he is a vegetarian, but likely sniffing out whether you are also one too. Very nice image.

Dogs also lick their noses to increase their sensitivity to smell, sort of like we rub our eyes to see better.

The 3 girls came within 10 ft but he stayed about 50 ft away and stomped hoof foot a lot.

Had to go and do some Xmas shopping. FML

So I took the camera.

I went and got a haircut, and my barber had rescued a Rainbow Lorikeet.

I am thinking I might go to the boxing day sales and get some extreme ugly consumer photos Martin Parr style.

The Lorikeet looks happy. I have seen much uglier consumer photos from some place that starts with a W. Not sure what that stands for :p I like that shot. A refreshing change.
