Begins sea trials. It was a pleasure to be part of this project.
She glided off so effortlessly.

I did not know they named a second Hobart. My uncle served on the Hobart in Veitnam. I think from memory ,it was shelled.

We had family members of your uncles ship attend the naming ceremony last year.
She's the most powerful ship our navy had had.

I might be wrong , but they where classed as guided missile destroyers. I think there was Hobart , Brisbane and Perth . I know my Uncle served on the Hobart and Brisbane. You've inspired me with your pictures. I live Townsville, so I'll have to get down to the wharves next time the warships are in dock .

Yep DDG is the UN code for guided missile destroyer. The Hobart class (Hobart, Sydney & Brisbane) will be the most powerful ships our navy has had. Giving the navy a capability unseen in the RAN

Quick comparison collage of the three ships of the RAN called Hobart
