I have a Feisol CT-3441T, I thought I might need the tall version when I ordered this. After using the tripod for a while I notice that I never extend the middle section as the ball head and the height of the camera are pretty much the perfect height. Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the CT-3441T to a solid center such as the Feisol CT-3442?

Thanks

The locking (angle) system for the legs looks the same so it may well be possible. I would suggest that you contact the importer for your region. A friend of mine had some dealings with the UK importer for Feisol and they were falling over themselves to be helpful, to the extent of sending out a couple of accessory options to see which he preferred and trusting him to send the other back.

If you don't have any luck then PM me and I will see what the UK importer has to say.

I have two friends with Feisol tripods (+1 Mono Pod) and they are great, but it seems that their service is even better here!

I don't know about a solid center, but you can buy a short center column to replace the standard length column. I almost never extend mine either, and will likely switch to the shorter column.

Thanks for the info John, yes i like the brand and the tripod, so far i have no complaints. I ordered it from really big cameras so i will see if they are still in business.

Yeah i would prefer to just have a sold plate, if not i will probably order the shorter center column.

Thanks

I would be temped to E Mail Feisol directly. I think that you may be more likely to get the correct answer that way.

For example the legs may well fit the spider for the 3442 but the leg angles may be different/inappropriate - just a thought.

It's possible. I've done it and I know at least one other forum member has done it. I'm in an airport heading home so I'll post more definitive info in a day or so. Basically you can purchase the "center spider" from Feisol and swap the legs. I'll give you the model for the spider.

I thought it would be possible but wasn't certain. I am sure the OP will appreciate your findings.

Please do as i would love to do this. I will be posting the official Feisol response here soon. I really want to make this happy. I dont care how it impacts its "fold ability".

This is the offical Feisol answer which i am not buying........

The main frame of the 3441T is designed to be used with a center column at all times - a flat plate cannot be mounted on it. However, you could replace with long column with a short column which would make it much like using a flat plate. This way, you would save additional weight and could get lower to the ground. The correct part would be the CC-2807, http://www.feisol.net …enter-column-cc-2807.html (external link) .

For instructions on swapping out the columns, please take a look at our online manual for this tripod at http://www.feisol.net/user-manuals (external link) .

Best wishes,

Michael

Another round of Q&A with Feisol USA. While i will agree the short center column is really short this isn't what i am currently looking to do. I may end up there in the end however.

Thanks Michael,

I know i asked the question for you to answer but i would imagine i would buy the 3442 spider plate and swap them out. Have you heard of this being done?

FEISOL INC
to me

You could go that route, but by the time you get all the necessary hardware for turning the tripod into a 3442, it would cost about $ 100.00. In my opinion, it would be much simpler to use the Short Column.

Well I had a reply from Feisol but not much help as their bod is at Photokina.

I will let you know if they throw any light on the subject.
