I own all three Tamron VC model zooms... 15-30, 24-70 and 70-200. the 5D4 and 80D so far for what I know does not match well with these lenses in live view. The camera will lock up and the LCD flickers like a disco party.

***Firmware Required*** and is available you just need to send your lenses to Tamron for a firmware upgrade. I did confirm that it is available. FYI.

I found the same thing on my Mark IV, only my 24-70 VC, works fine, but the 150-600mm did exactly what your camera did. I called Tamron, and they had the fix. My Tamron SP 150-600mm lens is on the way to New York. I may also send the 24-70 in for a tune, and firmware upgrade later.

When I noticed the problem, I had my 5D MIV and Tamron 150-600 on a tripod, with VC off. I took it off the tripod, and hand held it for another shot, and the problem persisted. So, VC on or off made no difference. The problem is rooted in the lenses firmware.

Hello Talley, I realy hope you see my posting :-)
I saw you have a Canon 5d iv and the Tamron 15-30 vc. I am realy interested in this combination (currently owning the 5d iii and the tamron).
I would real love to see some video footage in 4k from this combination. I cant find anything on the web. I think the 15-30 would be a good combination, but I am not sure.
Can you upload and post some 4k Footage with the 5d iv and the Tamron 15-30? This would be awesome!
Many thanks in advance!

1st post... welcome to the site.

I never could use the 15-30 on the 5D4 since it wouldn't work so I never sent the lens for upgrade on the firmware. I sold all the tamron glass. Sorry I can't help.

Was/is a stellar lens but if you have the 5D4 it needs the latest firmware. If you bought new just send it in for free fix. The lens worked great and I used it on a Disney trip. Side effect = big heavy lens but people who buy it know that.

Yeah, its an awesome lense for photography, the sharpness is amazing. I have it and carried all day around durint our trip in new york - thanks to the great "Spider holster" it was okay to carry.
I have the A0012 so it should be fine...
I am still unsure if the 5d iv is the right option for Photo AND video. I own the lumix gh4 which is a great working video camera...
If I use the tamron 15-30 on my 5d iii for video I am somehow quite unhappy with the image quality :( Maybe its a problem with the codec - the more sharp things in the image, the worse the codecs math is working...

Well, my 24-70 2.8 VC works for a while and then I get a communication error on the 5D4. I guess I need a firmware update :(

Did you contact Tamron about this? Maybe they can update the firmware. Their service is realy good and in my case for free (firmware update on the 15-30)
