Was out shooting Hummers with my Sig 150-600mm when wife pointed out this Garden Spider so I decided to see what sort of image I could get using my long lens. I then retrieved my Canon 100mm macro on my T4i for comparison. She was repairing her web. I will say it was interesting to watch her work. You're not actually able to see how she does this, using her various legs, without the magnification of the lenses.
With the Sig I was 10 ft away to obtain focus, which is alright with me. ;-)a

By the time I returned with my macro she had completed her repair, and I could only get a profile, and not very close without disturbing the web.
