For whatever reason my ring on my lens that says what it is cracked. And because its where it is I should probably replace it. Phoned Canon to order one and they sent me a schematic of my lens to find the parts number. Question is. Which parts number do you think it it is? As the part I need is not clearly defined. See photos. And thanks.

I think the part you want is YG2-2546. In the schematic, the two rings under YB2-2207 are inside the lens.

I'm assuming that you've done this type of repair before. If you haven't, maybe joining CPS Gold might be an idea. In Canada, Gold CPS is $100 and you get 20% off repairs and AFAIK, free shipping to Canon Canada. Given the flat rate for the 100 f2.8L is about $250 and the part could be $50, the repair could be $300. Less the 20% discount for Gold CPS members, you could save $60. Something to think about.

Thanks for your reply but I dont think its that one as that is internal components it seems as the part I need is below jn the skematic and clearly visable.

This part simply snaps in and is a cover. The snap point is the top of the lens where the words are on all L lenses.

I'd say you're looking to replace the unit YG2-2549, the focus window & gasket is an additional part which may (or not) be included in the YG2-2549 unit.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Yes you're right. After much talk with Canon the part is the entire part in the square called YG2-2549
