My son's SX50HS stopped working with a lens error, as I suspect he got some dust between the retracting lens barrel and the casing while we were hiking in Rainier last month. So, I sent the camera in to Canon for repair. The repair cost $70 and a package arrived today in the mail. Imagine my surprise when I opened it and found a letter indicating that since they were not repairing SX50s, they were sending me a refurbished camera instead. And it was the newer model, the SX60HS, and like all refurbished cameras, immaculate!

I've always been impressed with Canon service and this time was no exception!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
