With the release of the 5D IV, the 5D III prices are kind of plummeting. I understand the drop in price after a new release, but what was selling for $2,200 2 weeks ago are now selling for as low as $1,500.00 in great condition with clicks around 24k. I expected them to fall in price, but not this far and so fast. I picked up a 5D IV and thought about letting my 5D3 go, but at these prices, I'm thinking about keeping it. It's a fantastic body with outstanding performance. In my mind, I sort of put the 5D3 in the category as the original 5D.
IMHO, the 5D3 does what it does very well, and will continue to do so for years to come.
Canon is still selling them new for $2,499, and $2,099 refurbed.
Are people just dropping the prices low just to get rid of them fast and off-set the price of the 5D IV? I peruse the KEH.com website sometimes, and they offer a little over half the value of the body in the marketplace if you want to sell it to them. I've purchased some gear from them, and it's always been in immaculate condition.
Like I said earlier, I'll be keeping mine as a second body. It really is just that good vs letting it go for seriously low prices.
