Prices are falling pretty quick because its a substantial update. You have at least 1.5 stops, Huge DR, and a substantial update to the AF systems.

Its a major update for canon shooters and the price did not go up and in the 1Dx line it went down $500.00 from previous update

old sensors just got very dated.

I think it's this as well. I was expecting that to happen when the 5DIII came out to 5DII prices and it did, but to a much smaller extent and I think it's because the change from the 5DII to 5DIII was not as great as the change from the 5DIII to the 5DIV.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

The 5D3 gave 1D-like AF and better AF, so it was a pretty substantial upgrade, IMO. The 5D4 gives better DR, better ISO and DPAF, so yet again another large upgrade. The prices will stabilize once the newness has worn off and the used market stops seeing MKIII bodies.

True. But I think the 5D3 is going to had for cheap.$1500.00 tops if its under 20K within 3-4 months. Especially after images start to het the net and every tells what really going on with the new sensors.

Flat out telling everyone...Game changer sensor

LOVE my 1Dx2 files. Amazing files

C'mon, my 5D3 is better than any others. OBVIOUSLY! ;)

Sorry Jake. I checked your price. It's reasonable and attractive. People only want to pay unreasonably low prices today. :p

Maybe tomorrow.

After going to the B&H 5D4 event today, on my way home I was thinking maybe I should also sell.

My shutter is just above 4K and have everything (box, manuals, straps, etc).

I'm going to test the waters over at CL but thinking of here as well.

Would love to get $1800. Unrealistic?

I've had mine up for that price for a few days now, 7K clicks, immaculate condition, and I am including the Canon battery grip, a full L bracket, and two batteries.

No nibbles :(

I suppose I will have to move it to ebay or something.

Just lower your price here. You might sell it on EBay at your asking price but the 10% sellers fee is pretty heavy.

This thread started off with a reference to a camera being sold which I believe was mine. The camera has now sold so I'll add some thoughts based upon my experience.

I've sold a lot here, on FM and eBay and this was by far the most intense sale I've gone through in terms of activity but with a few differences. The morning after I put the FS up I had PMs from 8 different people and others continued to arrive till the sale today. Clearly there is no lack of interest in the 5D3. All told some were feelers, some were lowballers but in the end I had 4 serious buyers and 3 purchase offers came today alone but overall the actual will to buy was far more conservative than I've experienced in the past.

What I got more of a sense of is that people are interested in the 5D3 but cautiously so. There are more options than in the past and many people interested in the 5D3 already picked them up as people moved over to mirrorless so there isn't going to be a previous generation body feeding frenzy like we've seen in the past. I was actually expecting a much slower sale than the last 5D3 I sold and it certainly was.

People are circling, waiting to see what impact the 5D4 will have on the secondary 5D3 market and I think many feel that it hasn't bottomed out yet. I think patience is the answer. People are selling good units at reasonable prices and they will sell. It is just going to take longer than we're used to. As for your unit Jake I understand your dismay but if you don't mind the criticism I think you've been you're own worst enemy. You are a highly regarded and trusted mod here and I'm sure people have confidence in you when you sell something but IMO if you were willing to break up your kit the camera would have already been gone. This isn't 2012. Just a thought.

I would say you were onto something, but other than people asking about the grip, I've had no interest in anyone buying just the camera. I would definitely break up the kit for that! Like I said, no one has asked.

Maybe I should put up a body only price?

Based upon your thread we know there is interest in the grip and another 5D3 besides mine (basically equivalent to yours) sold today on the BST. I'd put a body only price.

Yep. List the two items separately. If someone wants both they'll definitely ask about it. Just my opinion of course. :)

but what was selling for $2,200 2 weeks ago are now selling for as low as $1,500.00

I haven't seen one go for $2200 in at least a year. Used prices were about $1800 before the Mark 4 came out (a bit more or less depending on condition), so prices did fall as expected but not by that much. FYI I bought a 5D3 earlier this year brand new from B+H for $2150 after rebate.

With so many new 5D3 owners, the grip and bracket will be of interest.

I picked up my 5d3 for $1500 Cad which is $1138.48 US Dollar. It had like 220K Shots though, but I figured even replacing the shutter at that price is worth it.
