Hi guys

I've recently purchased the new Epson24 inch P6070 and am using the ColorGate 9 RIP.

I'm interested in trying out some different canvas options by using sample rolls. I would need to add the canvas profile to my rip for this. The problem I have is that the company I brought the machine and RIP through will profile any paper I buy from them for no charge, which is great. But, if I want to try a paper / canvas from another supplier they want to charge me to make a profile.

I'm just wondering if I have a profile supplied to me by another supplier with some new paper / canvas, is it possible to add this to the ColorGate RIP?

Cheers

Gary

I am not familiar with the ColorGate software, it is quite possible that it accepts standard ICC profiles and then modifies them with whatever adjustments you require the software to perform.

The easiest way to find out is try one and see if it works.

I don't use a rip but my printer has an inbuilt spectrograph and creates its own profiles. I believe that this is an option on the Epsom as well.

If you are after a printer profiling solution, I have a Spyder 3 Studio Suite that you can have. The monitor puck is broken (I dropped it and broke the filter, have the Spyder 5 now). The printer spectro and software is like new, only needed to use it a handful of times prior to getting my HP printer.

It is a time consuming procedure and will not give you the same control as some RIP's.

Some allow for quite extensive control of ink density, colour calibration etc while some are more dedicated to layout control.

I'm in Auckland PM me if you are interested in the Spyder.

I just had a quick look at ColorGates site. The software may support the Datacolor Print spectro using its standard range of charts (but not all of the possible chart options in version 9). Be worth trying or you could buy a iOne pro spectro.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the offer and info.

I'll look into it a little more too. I have both a Spyder 5 and a Colormunki Photo.

I can create the profiles with the Colormunki, but its getting it into the software I was a little stuck on. The installer used an iOne Pro, but he was so fast I didn't see how he added the profile to the software.

The help tab in the software isn't the easiest to use, but I'll try and add one.

I'm still hoping the company I brought from will show me, but they seem to more interested in me buying all my paper and canvas from them, which they will profile for free. I might just buy a different roll and make sure I watch him install the profile :)

Thanks for the help
