Yeah, "reasonably good glass" is of course tongue-in-cheek. I have very good glass. If I produce lousy photos, I certainly cannot blame my equipment, that's for sure!

I never view my lenses as investment. They give me great pleasure and if I sell any of them for a few hundred less than I bought it after a few years, then amortized over the time of ownership, the amount I spent on owning it is probably less than a latte or two a week. I can live with that!

I can't afford even 500 v1, but if i will start to save then i an hardly afford the Sigma is they will produce one for $5900, at the end i don't need so much sharpness, the only factors will be how fast AF with or without TCs and the weight, i won't pay even over $3000 on lens just to be sharper than many cheap ones only.
