Ottawa area birders: Help requested

Hi guys:
My wife and I are planning a trip to Pembroke in late April/early May. I'll do the usual internet searches, but we're also looking for first-hand knowledge of good birding locations in the Pembroke-Ottawa stretch.
Any info would be appreciated.

Don't know much about the Pembroke area birding-wise, but here is a kink to good birding sites west of Ottawa.

I don't know how close to Ottawa you'll venture out but Britania Conservation Area and Shirley's Bay are a must if birding here. Constance Bay is a little closer and has the only pair of Red-Headed Woodpeckers in the Ottawa area.

These areas are all west of downtown Ottawa, for your convenience, but there are MANY others further east...including Petrie Islands, Mer Bleue bog area, Green's Creek, etc...
