Do they train squirrels to just go out and shoot these sample shots? Would be better if they took them out to have people that shoot the types of shots they're showcasing, that wouldn't be shooting at such bad angles or in such poor light conditions.

I've thought about the 12-24 but at the moment here I can get a Nikon 14-24 on the used market for a bit less so would be more likely to go that route if/when I finally move wider than 24mm again. New for new of course the Sigma wins.

The couple of reviews that I have read of the Sigma give me the impression that it doesn't really improve upon either the Nikon or the Canon 11-24

Ditto.

I am guessing that since this is a revamp of a 2005 lens, that frankly never saw much popularity in all it's years, people are not much more interested in the ART.

I had the first version of this lens, and it was, for what it cost at the time, a great lens.

It was soft wide open, but for ultra wide, 100% of my use was stopped down. It's control of the distortion was pretty good considering it was for many years by far the widest rectilinear lens one could buy for FF.

On the 1D (1.3x crop) it was insanely wide.
On FF, it was like another dimension.

Of course Canon and Nikon caught up with that original 12-24 lens about ten years later,. so now at least there are alternatives.

I just read the Lenstip review of it, and they seemed quite impressed.
